When we see something we don’t understand, we often assume it is something harmful. Frustration–or fear–overwhelms us and may paralyze us. When that happens, can God send your fears packing?
In the midst of tumultuous winds, the sea cast an eerie shadow across the disciples’ boat. Peter saw a strange apparition and assumed it was a ghost. Yet the very thing he feared turned out to be the one person who could calm his terrified heart. (See Matthew 8:26)
When Fears Arise
Wherever storms of fear arise–and they will–we will find God’s presence in the midst. When we see through eyes of faith, the ghosts of our imagination disappear along with fear, and light emerges clearly.
Because truth is stronger than fiction.
Five Truths That Are Stronger Than Your Fears
Can God send your fears packing? Absolutely. Here are a few “truths” that are stronger than your fictional fear:
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38 NLT).
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (Psalm 23:4 NLT)
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? (Psalm 27:1 NLT).
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine (Isaiah 43:1, NLT).
So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows (Matthew 10:31, NLT).
My Personal Prayer for You
Lord, when fears loom larger than faith, help us depend on You. Send our fear packing! Thank You for the promises in Your Word we can cling to at all times. Lord, Your truth is indeed stronger than our fictional fear.
Day-votedly His,
Rebecca
