Success–how should I prepare for it? What should I do? Where should I go? How should I plan? What does God really want? Every day you are preparing for something and Someone. Large task, small task? Doesn’t really matter. When you continually prepare, you’ll be ready for whatever God asks you to do. Here are four simple ways to prepare for success:
1. Prepare for Success by Loving God
That includes all that He is: Father, Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, with all that you are: heart, soul, mind. Love Him with the overwhelming desire for every thought, every word, and every action to overflow from a heart of love, joy, and gratitude for the One who loves you. “Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!” Deuteronomy 6:5, MSG
2. Prepare for Success by Loving Others
God adds, “as you love yourself.” People are God’s priority. That makes it one of ours. “Love others as well as you love yourself.” Matthew 27:39, MSG
3. Prepare for Success by Showing Up
Report daily to the King of kings and Lord of lords. “Here I am, Lord, send me!” You can’t hear God’s voice when you’re continually AWOL. “Speak. I’m your servant, ready to listen.” 1 Samuel 3:10 MSG
4. Prepare for Success by Being Faithful
No matter what task God gives you, from the kitchen to the boardroom, serve Him faithfully. When you are faithful in little things, God may increase your opportunities. Whether He does or not has little to do with success. The “success” is in your faithfulness to prepare–and serve–every day of your life in a way that brings God glory. “I have chosen to be faithful.” Psalm 119:30, NLT.
Remember, your idea and God’s idea of success may not be the same. His Word teaches us the difference.
Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. 2 Timothy 4:2, NLT
