true freedom 4th of July celebration Jesus true gift of peace

Most of us celebrate our country’s birthday and freedom watching fireworks. But there’s something more we can do that will truly make a lasting difference in the lives of others. As you read this short inspirational piece, I hope it will encourage you to celebrate–and share–the Gift of true freedom and peace.

The Gift of Peace

by Rebecca Barlow Jordan

If I had the power, I’d give the gift of peace,

So all could live in harmony, forcing wars to cease.

I’d turn all hearts to love again in brotherhood and truth,

so death could never steal away a life within its youth.

With seeds of tender mercy, I’d sow a crop of care

to bloom within each gentle soul and water it with prayer.

I’d soak each life with kindness and plant contentment there

and cultivate its goodness, so every heart could share

the reaping of a harvest, on firm but gentle soil–

where weeds could never choke the life, and pest could never spoil.

I may not have the power to give this peace away,

for we will always hear of wars engaging in some way.

But I can give a treasure, worth more than anything:

I”ll give the world my Jesus, and let true freedom ring.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me (John 14:6, NLT).

For He Himself is our peace (Ephesians 2:14, NASB).

May I quote from the Song Amazing Grace(My Chains Are Gone) by My Favourite Christain Singer Chris Tomlin to describe to you how it feels for me now I have Jesus Christ in my life?
    “My Chains Are Gone,
    I’ve Been Set Free,
My God My Savior Has Ransomed Me..
And Like A Flood His Mercy Reigns..
    Unfailing Love, Amazing Grace”.
    Great Atricle…2
    God Bless you

Yes, Chris Tomlin’s music is great–I love that song, too!

I caught the article on 5 things to combat fear and while those are good I’ve spent a life time “coupling action through the fear” because only rarely does inaction bring success, the key for me has been to “know the truth” and put that into action…. All else has brought failure!

Occasionally the Lords “truth” is be still and when that is His guidance, that is my action!

Good point, James. My “list” was not exhaustive. We all need wisdom to know how to act in any situation. And sometimes the “action” is for us to push through the fear. I love the “truths” God gives us in His Word–so many. One says not “if” but “what time (when) I am afraid, I will trust in God.” Complete trust in Him will bring true freedom–and often that means “action.” Thanks for your comments.
