When Prayer Is a Gift

by Rebecca Barlow Jordan

prayer gift - Prayer is a gift we can all give away, a quote by Rebecca Barlow Jordan in Day-votions for Women

We all like to receive gifts–on birthday, Christmas, anniversaries. But gifts can be costly. A prayer gift is appropriate anytime, any day, any way!

When To Give a Prayer Gift? Always!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus,” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV.

“Pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 26:41, NIV.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful,” Colossians 4:2, NIV

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God,” Philippians 4:6, NIV.

“I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,” Ephesians 1:16, NIV.

“Be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people,” Ephesians 6:18, NIV.

“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ,” 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12, NIV.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—” 1 Timothy 2:1, NIV.

“Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne,” Revelation 8:3, NIV.

Has someone offered you the gift of prayer? Will you give away the gift of prayer this week?
