Perfect is a matter of perspective.
I get it.
Every morning, I wake up refreshed.
Okay, most mornings.
Same objectives. The same desires. And the same hopes.
I want to be perfect.
In my thoughts.
Then my actions.
Perfect in my marriage.
With my family and friends.
In my motives.
And in my prayers.
Doing the right things.
Saying the right things.
At the right time.
Wisdom…ah, yes, to act with wisdom, kindness, love.
Then life happens.
And not just before coffee.
Promises made.
Promises broken.
The phone rings.
Breakfast burns.
Misunderstandings erupt.
Illness attacks.
Tragedy strikes.
COVID hits.
Life disappoints.
People disappoint.
I disappoint.
Things break.
Technology fails.
Words fail.
I fail.
Then He shows up.
Totally unexpected.
Arms extend. I run.
But not away.
I run to Him.
Jesus is there.
Waiting.
He’s been there all along.
Tears flow.
Worries cease.
Peace returns.
Love changes me
Again.
He’s perfect. I’m not.
But that’s okay.
His love covers all.
He sees me perfect
in Him.
And I get it
Again.
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)
Love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8, NLT)
My Personal Prayer for You
Lord, we are so prone to react negatively when life disappoints us. Our expectations of others and of ourselves can plummet on any day. As Your children, we want “perfect” performance from ourselves and from others. But apart from you, there is no such thing as perfect. We are all flawed.
Thank You, that in spite of our imperfections, You love us with a perfect love, an unending love, all because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. He paid the perfect sacrifice for our imperfect lives. You covered us in Your perfection! Thank You for Your forgiveness, and for the longing in our hearts to love You more, to love others more, and to see ourselves as You see us!
Day-votedly Yours,
Rebecca
