25 Christmas Prayers – Day 12

by Rebecca Barlow Jordan

Today is the 12th in a series of daily Christmas blogs: 25 Prayers for Christmas celebrating the names of our precious Lord. Featured name today is Adonai, the LORD. I hope these simple prayer blogs will enrich your Christmas season and draw you closer to the One who is the true reason for Christmas.

Lord - 25 Christmas Prayers - Day 12Day 12 – Adonai, the Lord

It’s so easy to call you “Lord,” yet sometimes difficult to follow You in complete obedience. Jesus, some see You only as a man; others call you Savior. But You are also our “Adonai, Lord,” the blessed controller of our lives every day.

You are Adonai

When You are on the throne of our hearts and lives, peace and safety thrive. Priorities fall into place. It’s easier to do Your will and to follow You.

You are in control whether we acknowledge You as Adonai or not. But when we do, how differently our lives unfold!

Jesus, one day with You is truly better than a thousand in the palaces of kings. You call our names, and a flood of joy overflows. When You command our lives, a fountain of confidence takes over.

You Deserve Our All

Many call You “Adonai,” but self often intervenes, and we choose our own way instead of Yours. This Christmas we come to You with bowed hearts desiring truly to celebrate You as our “Adonai.”

Help us to serve You in obedience, faithfully and joyfully. After all You’ve done for us, You deserve no less than our all!

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21 NIV).

Have you made Jesus both your Savior and Lord? How does knowing Him as your LORD affect your Christmas celebration?
