25 Christmas Prayers – Day 10
Day 10 – Son of David
Jesus, we’re all guilty sometimes of desiring great events and exciting passages for our lives. But greatness was not Your aspiration or goal.
This Christmas, help us to remember Your example. You left Your Father’s throne in heaven and identified Yourself with humanity.
You had the lineage of a king as the Son of David, and You were God’s own Son. Yet You are the King Himself.
Only You, Jesus, would ride through a winner’s circle on the back of a donkey. In Your birth, Your life, and Your death, You demonstrated for us the humility and submission of a lowly servant. You were exalted in due time. Your pain was our gain, and Your strife brought us life.
We celebrate You, Jesus, Son of David, this Christmas. And we join with believers around the world shouting Hosanna to you!
“Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” Matthew 21:9 NIV

Today is the tenth in a series of daily Christmas blogs: 25 Christmas prayers celebrating the names of our precious Lord. I truly hope these simple prayer/blogs will enrich your Christmas season and will draw you closer to the One who is the true reason for Christmas. (I’ll be returning to my regular, weekly posts after Christmas.)

Got something to say?

Are these Christmas prayers available all together? This past summer I retired from an all-consuming job, and I’m just now catching up on the last two year’s of posts. It would be great to have these selections in a booklet so I could use them this year.
Thanks,
Sharon Smith
Thanks for your question, Sharon. They are not exactly available all together as seen. If you will notice, much of the content is adapted from my book Daily in Your Presence. I added more content to some of them and rephrased, etc. However, I am re-running them this year on the first 25 days of Christmas, so check each day’s blog beginning Dec. 1! Hope that helps!
Some of us have felt abandoned and rejected by humanity (just as Jesus was) but at this precious time of the year, we take the time to reflect on the greatest event of all time – we can truly say Behold the King!! Emmanuel with us. Yet at the same time we are anticipating His return, Eternity beckens and we will once again be Home. No suitcases needed for the trip of a lifetime, one-way airfares paid in full. Wow, “Eternity Airbus” is getting ready surrounded by the Hosts of Heaven. I am endeavouring to encourage as many as possible to take the trip with us. Thanks again for being devoted to His cause Rebecca.
No suitcases or airfare needed, indeed, Coralie! I could have added those to the list of “25 Things You Won’t Find in Heaven,” the blog I did a couple of weeks ago! Keep encouraging others!
