I’m done. Finished. Last One. That’s what I said the last time. But this time I mean it. Ever uttered those words? If it hadn’t involved our entire neighborhood, I probably wouldn’t have attempted it–again. Digging out, sorting through, putting stuff out, packing it back–or giving it away–the entire scenario of yet another garage sale stirred up dusty arguments that refuse to die.
“Get over it!” “Move on!” “The past is gone!” How do you find healing from your past? Well-meaning friends may offer you their best unsolicited advice, but their words hurt. Why? The past still haunts you. Are new beginnings possible? Is healing a reality? How do we confidently release the past and embrace the future? How do we find the strength to “press on?”
