How often do you think about God? Early in the morning? At mealtimes? Before bedtime? An hour a day? Once a week? Once a year?
Do you ever wonder if God thinks about you? If so, how often? Once a year? Once a month? After all, He has billions of names to remember. Maybe you’re just another pretty face to Him.
God’s Thoughts About You
Actually, God’s thoughts about you–yes, you, His child–are beyond counting. Apparently, David the Psalmist wanted us to know what a personal God He is. He took great pains in Psalm 139 to let us know God’s investment in our lives. I love this verse that David penned:
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! Psalm 139:27 NLT
On a trip “back to my roots” one year to see my childhood home, we stopped by a beautiful beach that seemed to stretch into infinity. As I scooped up a handful of sand, I could only agree with the Psalmist. It’s impossible to count the grains. There are a zillion gazillion of them!
What Are God’s Thoughts About You?
Does God care about the hurts in your lives? The calamities that seem to pile up, year after year? Does God think about you when you’re struggling to keep your faith alive? When others mock or make fun of you and your beliefs?
Does God think about you only when you’re in church or reading His Word? Does He disown you when you temporarily fall into temptation? Does He turn away then, because you’re not worthy of His thoughts?
Does God weep with you in your sorrows? Does He celebrate your joys? Are His thoughts filled with delight when your name comes to mind? Or does He place you at the bottom of his list when you don’t measure up?
Does He think about you even though you have so many limitations and can’t “do” as much for Him like others can? Does He keep a “good” and “bad” list and check it off? What are His thoughts about you, anyway?
Now would be a good time for you to pause and take a quick look at this reminder–a blog post I wrote to answer that question: “How God Feels About You.
Hopefully, those words will help answer many questions for you. God’s love for you is indeed extravagant and unlimited. And His thoughts about you are inexhaustible and innumerable.
The next time you think who you are–or what you do–doesn’t matter to God, think again. We all matter! How wonderful to know God’s thoughts about you. How precious to realize, you are always on His mind!
What about you? What does this promise mean to you? Has there been a time in your life when this promise especially touched you?
My Personal Prayer for You
Lord, thank You that Your thoughts about me are truly innumerable. I’m always on Your mind! That blows my mind! Forgive me when I doubt Your care and concern for me or when I think that You’re too busy to deal with me. Thank You for the precious relationship of being Your child. Thank You that I can come to You any time of night or day and know that You will hear me and direct me to find help in time of need. May my thoughts about You be constant, filled with praise and thanksgiving, and may my heart always focus on You. You are a holy God; yet You are a personal One who loves me and takes personal interest and pride in who I am. Thank You that I am Yours. I love you, Lord!
Day-votedly Yours,
Rebecca
