I hope these simple prayer blogs will enrich your Christmas season and draw you closer to the One who is the true reason of Christmas.
Day 16 – Jehovah-Raah, the Lord My Shepherd
Lord, sometimes we try to sneak under the fence in search of our own greener pastures. But as Jehovah-Raah, the Lord My Shepherd, You know each of us by name!
You never stop looking for us and calling us back. We don’t always understand Your reasons for boundaries. But Your gate protects us from danger.
You feed us with nourishing food–not just for our bodies, but for our souls. Once we’re full, You lead us to Your own safe, green pastures where we can nestle in and find rest, refreshment, and joy for our journeys.
You Faithfully Walk Beside Us
Wherever we go–up steep mountain paths, through the deep valleys and sweet pastures, or around still waters–You walk beside us, refreshing our spirits and restoring our souls.
You Always Lead Us Back
Lord, no matter how smart we think we are, sometimes we act just like dumb animals–like sheep. We all stray at times; we chase after other sheep instead of following You, our Good Shepherd. Because of our stubborn nature, sometimes we end up broken and bruised. Yet you pursue us, tend our wounds, and then carry us safely home in Your tender arms again. You’re jealous for Your flock, and want none of them to perish.
Your Shepherd Arms Say, “Welcome”
Thank You for nurturing us, loving us, and caring so deeply for our needs. Thank You that we can never stray too far from You. As long as we have breath, Your arms say, “Welcome!”
This Christmas we celebrate You as our Jehovah-Raah, the Lord My Shepherd. And what a wonderful Shepherd You are!
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me,” (John 10:14 NIV).
How has the Lord been your Jehovah-Raah, Shepherd, this year?
