Hope: Bible Promise for Today

Bible Promise for Today: Hope

“He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree.” (Job 19:10 NIV)

Some of you just read that and are asking, “Where is the hope in that verse?” In fact, right now some of you may be feeling like the one who spoke those words. Tested beyond imagination, finding no relief for the loss of his children, his possessions, and his health, Job felt like an uprooted tree whose hopes had been torn from him on every side.

Quotes about Hope

Through the years authors, poets, and leaders have tried to encourage us by defining and explaining hope:

Hope means expectancy when things are otherwise hopeless. – G. K Chesterton

We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope. – Martin Luther King

Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark. – from E. C. McKenzie, 14,000 Quips and Quotes, March 2000, Hendrickson Publishers

Hope is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier. – Ibid., E.C. McKenzie

Hope is the feather that perches in the soul and sings the tune without the words and never stops at all.  – Emily Dickinson

Hope itself is like a star–not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.  – Charles H. Spurgeon

In spite of all that Job lost through his time of severe testing, he refused to abandon hope:

Though he slay me, yet I will hope in him. (Job 13:15, NIV)

Do You Need Hope Today?

Where are you today? Do you need hope? Are you looking for a promise from God to sustain you?

Bible Promise for Today: Hope - Tree of Life

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12, Amplified Bible)

Today I couldn’t stop with one encouraging Bible verse or promise from God’s Word. There are so many! His Word brings so much more comfort, encouragement, and hope than any words I could add. And never has our world needed hope more than today. No matter what your circumstances are today, I pray these promises will encourage your heart and lift your spirits today.

My Prayer for You Today

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13, NLT)

(This is a repost from last Spring. In light of recent events in our country, I thought it was appropriate to post it again. So many are in need of fresh hope today!)

Hope to me is the lifeline of our faith. I place my concerns and fears at the altar of The Lord, I wrap my love ones on the altar with cords that cn be broken; so I do not take them back with my worrying.
I know God is bigger than all my issues and He already has a plan to rescue me from myself. I just have be still and know He is my God and Father who loves me and will see me thru it all!
