Even as we’re attempting to make life count, to make a difference, or to move forward in new ways in this new year, we will still face challenges that can seem insurmountable. If that happens, remember you are not alone. In those moments, when you feel alone, I pray these words will encourage you.
When You Feel Alone
by
Rebecca Barlow Jordan
You are not alone,
even when a blast of winter rakes across your heart
and leaves it exposed, bared, and falling apart.
You are not alone,
even if your emotions cry out, “Enough!”
and no good word appears on the screen
of your imagination–at least, none that are seen.
You are never alone,
even when your soul is spent with fatigue and weary goodness,
and your work feels so in vain,
when forward moves backward
and you’re hoping sun will follow the rain.
You are not alone,
even when the ache seems greater
than your strength can possibly bear,
and you’ve pushed beyond your comfort zone
with no room left to spare.
You are not alone.
Because the One Who knows you best
even in your greatest test
is always with you.
God is not the “Universe.”
He is Lord of the universe.
He is your Father;
you are His precious child.
He has never left you, for His Spirit rests within you,
And His love for you is wild.
His thoughts are always on you,
a million times a day or more,
no matter what you say or do,
no matter where you are.
He cannot be unfaithful,
for the Faithful One never changes.
You are not alone.
Your heavenly Father knows exactly where you are.
His consuming passion is perfect love for you,
like a groom awaiting His bride.
If you search for God, you’ll find Him;
He does not sleep or hide.
You are never alone.
You can never escape His presence.
He knows you well;
He is your Rock,
your strength in all situations.
He is your Hope,
the Light at the end of your darkness.
You can never be lost,
for God knows your name well.
Nothing or no one can take you out
of your Father’s hands,
and He’s the only One Who ever truly understands.
You are never alone,
even if you think you have drifted too far.
The One Who loves you best; the One Who loves you most,
still loves you as you are.
He will send out an army to rescue you,
And He will not stop until He finds His child–
the one lost from the ninety and nine.
Then He’ll make you brand new.
When you feel alone,
You are never really alone.
Our God is not of stone;
He has good plans for you,
and He will finish what He started.
God holds your future too.
He is your constant companion.
He will not abandon His own–
not now, not ever.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow…and forever
The Great I Am will hold your hand
and keep your heart tucked near His.
You can be sure of this:
You are not alone;
Be loved by the One Who loves You best
and rest…
in Him today.

Words of Encouragement and Bible Promises for When You Feel Alone
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV).
He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak (Isaiah 40:29 TLB).
“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 18:20 HCSB).
“Praise God for the return of our father David’s kingdom. . . . ” “Hail to the King of the universe!” (Mark 11:10 TLB).
How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me! (Psalm 139:17-18 TLB).
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns (Philippians 1:6 NLT).
Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us (2 Timothy 2:13 TLB).
Don’t be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” (Hebrews 13:5 TPT).
A New Year’s Challenge for You
These are only a few Bible verses that can verify the truths I wrote about in this poem, but here’s a New Year’s challenge for you. Anytime you want to find a Bible verse or truth and you don’t know where to locate it, go to Crosswalk or to Bible Gateway and do a search using a key word. Then see how many other truths you can find that are “hidden” in this poem and locate even more Bible promises and verses. I guarantee it will lift your spirits and convince you that you are never alone!
My Personal Prayer for You (When You Feel Alone)
Lord, today I ask you to bless those who feel as if they are alone. Let them know through Your Word and by your Spirit that You are with them constantly, that You will never leave them, and that You are always thinking about them.
Give them fresh grace and the willingness and courage to try new things, to believe again, and to search Your Word for the encouragement they desire. Bless them with new friendships, new victories, and new challenges to pursue.
Fill them with Your strength and joy daily as they seek ways they can reach outward and then give to others who may feel alone. Instead of trying to understand on their own, help them to trust You completely, Lord, for You are our Hope, our Strength, our very Life.
Thank You for loving us as we are, and for Your promises that we are becoming what You want us to be. Your love and faithfulness are beyond belief, but not beyond reality! Remind them of who You are, and who they are in Christ. Thank You, Lord, for this new year.
Day-votedly Yours,
Rebecca
