“Oh that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107: 8-9 NKJV). When my father really enjoyed a meal, he would say, “I’m suffering with satisfaction.” At one time or another most of us have tried to satisfy our longings with a variety of “things”:

My greatest fear used to be that somehow I would reach the end of my life and not fulfill God’s purpose for me–that I would miss too many opportunities to serve Him, or that I would fail to reach His potential for my life. But the promise in Philippians 1:6 settled that for me.
Is Heaven for Reals?
I used to joke around with my grandchildren making unbelievable statements. One of my them loved to say, “Uh-uh! For reals, Mimi?”‘ “Just kidding!” I’d reply. There are some things they never question with, “For reals?” Words like, “I love you! You’re so special! I’m really proud of you!” I hope they know Mimi never kids about those things. They are definitely “for reals.”
Barefoot Blessings – When God Says You Have Enough
One Sunday my husband was speaking at a nearby church. The people invited us to stay for the dinner that would follow. When I saw someone haul out a large basket and place it at the exit into the hallway, I wondered if maybe they were planning for an unusually large offering. 🙂 But after the ending “Amen,” of the service, everyone started taking off their shoes and socks and putting them in that basket. That’s when we knew this would be a dinner unlike any we had ever attended. God was preparing us for some barefoot blessings.
