Lessons I Learned (and Re-learned) in 2014

Lessons I Learned (and Relearned) in 2014

What Lessons Did You Learn in 2014?

What did God teach you in 2014? What lessons did you learn? It would take a book to list them all and to explain how, when, and where God re-emphasized His truths for me. But here, in a nutshell, are 20 simple lessons I learned (and relearned) in 2014:

  1. God is in control (And I’m not).
  2. Friends matter.
  3. What we see as failure, God sees as an opportunity to grow.
  4. Waiting is never wasting–time (if we’re waiting on or with God).
  5. If God is in it, He will make a way.
  6. Physical rest is sometimes the most spiritual choice to make.
  7. God specializes in special surprises.
  8. Give more.
  9. Breathe. Relax. Enjoy what God has given.
  10. A smile costs nothing. Offer it freely, because it can change someone’s day.
  11. Divine appointments are far better than man-made appointments.
  12. God’s strength will carry us through our weakest moments.
  13. Don’t fret over little things. God has a way of working them out.
  14. Be who you are and who you were made to be.
  15. Your message is unique. And so are you.
  16. God is still writing our stories.
  17. Pursue your craft with excellence, not perfectionism.
  18. God cares about the details of our lives.
  19. Gratitude is always the best attitude.
  20. God still answers prayer.

I hope these simple lessons encourage you this year. As always, God is faithful to teach. Will you be faithful this year to learn?

Rebecca, a wonderful list, and I agree with them all. In 2014 God taught me about walking by faith and not by sight–a lesson I’m still learning. At the very core of a faith walk is 100% trust in God. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we can trust God no matter the outcome. That’s a lesson easier learned when we focus on our eternal destination rather than our time on earth.
