Spiritual warfare can evoke a variety of responses in the lives of Christ followers. Unawareness of our enemy’s schemes, irrational fear of the term, “warfare,” or attributing too much power to our arch enemy, satan, can leave believers stranded, deceived, and defenseless.
Spiritual warefare is real, and it’s been around since the beginning of creation–far longer than when author Frank Peretti pushed it to the surface in the 80’s in his book, “Piercing the Darkness.”
How can we find confidence to battle our enemy? Where can we find the tools to fight, assured of protection and victory? Rather than expound on the weapons Jesus gives us, like our spiritual armor, our identity in Christ, the power of His name, and his Word through Scripture–and so much more–I’ve chosen today to offer you some helps and resources for handling spiritual warfare in your own life that will also include those weapons. Here are just a few of them:
A Prayer for Spiritual Warfare
At a loss for what to pray for spiritual warfare? I wrote a sample prayer for spiritual warfare on Crosswalk that might help you.
War Room, the Movie
The movie, War Room, offers a vivid picture both of the reality of spiritual warfare, and the authority through Christ that belongs to believers who will take up their God-given weapons and fight–being careful to let Jesus lead the charge and bring the victory. I encourage you to see the trailer here and watch the movie.
In addition, you’ll find other helps generated by this movie that can help strengthen you in your daily battles. Here are some of them:
War Room: Prayer is a Powerful Weapon (Novelization of the movie)
Books by Neil T. Anderson
You can find an assortment of great books on the subject of personal spiritual warfare, but two of the best I have ever read and still recommend are Neil Anders0n’s books, Overcoming the Darkness, and The Bondage Breaker.
The name of Jesus and His powerful Word through prayer are powerful. Be wise. Draw close to Jesus. Keep alert. Our enemy never gives up trying to deceive us. But Jesus will fight with you and for you. He’s already won the battle!
Are you prepared for spiritual warfare daily? How is Jesus helping you in your battles?
