What does financial freedom mean to you? Is it still possible, when everything right now says no way? Nothing is impossible with God, no matter what the circumstances are. It all starts with the right kind of desires in our heart–and maybe an earnest prayer for financial freedom.
If you measure financial independence by dollars and cents, then maybe this prayer for financial freedom is not for you. Being wealthy, in God’s perspective, actually has nothing to do with dollars and cents. It has more to do with dedication and sense. Because truly if you know Him, you are wealthy indeed.
But God does honor good stewardship and wants to bless His children in surprising ways we can’t even imagine. In the area of finances, He simply wants us to be faithful and generous with whatever He gives us. And I believe He wants us to experience freedom in every area of our lives, including finances. Whether you’re single or married, if that’s the desire of your heart, then this prayer for financial freedom might be a place for you to start:
A Personal Prayer for Financial Freedom
Lord, everything I have belongs to you. You own it all. And I thank You for every sweet gift You have given me. Whether it’s food, shelter, warmth, family, friends, health, life, abilities, transportation, or a thousand other benefits, You are the Giver of every good and perfect gift. And they are all good, just like You.
Contentment and Freedom
I come to You boldly today to express my heart in the area of finances. You already know my weaknesses and strengths. I want to exercise faithful stewardship of everything You’ve given me. Contentment is my desire; financial freedom is my goal.
Deliver Me from the Temptation of Accumulation
Forgive me for allowing myself in the past to become a servant instead of a steward of my finances. Heal me from any wrong motives or attempts to accumulate wealth for selfish motives. And deliver me from the temptation to want more, to spend more, to make things more important than You and Your purposes for my life.
Help Me Bless Others
Make my life a revolving door of blessing, always moving and sharing with others what You give to me. Life is not about me; it’s about You and Your message to love, to forgive, and to give us all meaning and purpose in this life.
Teach Me Good Management of My Finances
Teach me how to manage the finances You have entrusted to me, to use my skills in a way that both honors you and makes a contribution to Your world. I want to make a difference, Lord. But I feel trapped and discouraged when financial troubles weigh me down and stress me out. I have nowhere to look but up, Lord. I’m crying out to You for help.
Reveal the Financial Principles in Your Word
Draw me into Your Word and reveal the financial principles You’ve given to help me learn more about good stewardship. I don’t want to live in debt as a slave to a lender and end up paying three times more than something is worth. I know You want more than that for all Your children.
Help Me Give More
Giving back to you is my first priority in managing money. By faith, I want to give, and to keep giving to You and Your work, even when it seems impossible. When all of Your children give to You the first fruits—off the top of every paycheck—we can truly make a difference. The government is not our source, Lord. You are. And as we help in Your kingdom’s work, investing into the lives of others, both practical and eternal needs will be met.
Teach Me about Discipline
Saving money is not easy, but help me to exercise discipline and sacrifice, if necessary, to reach the goal of financial freedom. Help me to save some for the future, for emergencies, and for things that will honor you. Show me how to budget my finances, as well as my time, so that my pursuit of the goal doesn’t interfere with what is truly important in life.
Show Me How to Start
Show me where to start, what I need, and any wise counselors who can help, and grant me the opportunity to make a living that both uses the skills and resources You have given me. I want neither poverty nor wealth, but to live honestly with freedom, generosity, and faithfulness.
I Want More of You
I am so grateful for everything You have done and are doing in my life. And by faith, I am trusting You to start me on this journey to financial freedom. My desire is not for more of this world’s goods, but for more of You—and for more ways to honor you and share with others the sweet blessings you give to me.
Day-votedly Yours,
and in Jesus’ name,
Rebecca
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT).

Three Principles of Financial Freedom – My testimony – and Resources for You!
My husband and I can testify to the principles in God’s Word regarding good stewardship of not only our finances, but of everything He gives to us. We are not, and never will be classified as “wealthy” by our world’s (or Uncle Sam’s) standards. We are simply two imperfect, ordinary people in love with an extraordinary God. But we have tried through the years to honor Him. And God has honored that.
I hope you’ll come back and join me next week!
