2013 Mornings with Jesus Devotional

2013 Mornings with Jesus Devotional

I love to encourage my readers, so in today’s blog, I’m giving away a copy of the 2013 Mornings with Jesus Guideposts devotional book. All of us need to set aside time to connect with our faithful, living God–to refresh our spirits, strengthen our relationship, and nourish our souls. All of us need encouragement!

In the 2013 Mornings with Jesus devotional, I joined with nine other writers to share 365 fresh devotional insights from God’s Word that focus on the character and teachings of Jesus.

You can find out more about the Guideposts devotional here.

To enter the devotional giveaway, read through my blog to see what is required.

Here’s a sample devotion of mine about God, the One and Only, from the 2013 Mornings with Jesus devotional:

No one has ever seen God, but God, the One and Only,

who is at the Father’s side, has made him known. John 1:18 (NIV)

Do you remember those days of “first love?” I met my husband when I was just a young teenager. But it didn’t take me long to think that maybe he was the one. I was definitely in love.

I’m sure my girlfriends tired of my incessant talking about him. He consumed the totality of my conversations. When my parents finally gave me the okay to date, he became my “one and only.” After several years of dating, while in college, we married.

In our lifetimes we will experience many kinds of love: parental, marital, close friends, etc. But no matter how much we treasure those here on earth, there is One whose love is like no other. The Bible calls Him, “God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side.” He is the One who helps us know what God’s love is like, because He “made Him known” when He came to earth.

When I think about Jesus in this way, I realize He is truly the lover of our souls—the One from whom all affection stems. Without Him, there’s no way we could ever understand or express any kind of love.

No matter how deeply we feel about our human relationships, they will disappoint us at some time. Their love will always be imperfect, because we are all flawed. But Jesus is truly the One and Only Love—the only One who will never reject us, never leave us, never hurt us, and who will always love us perfectly.

I “fell in love” with Jesus when I was an eight-year-old child. Through the years, my love for Him has grown stronger and deeper. I’ve failed Him many times, but He has always loved me.

I hope I never get tired of talking about Him.

Faith Step: Is Jesus your One and Only Love? Write Him a love letter today, telling Him how you feel about Him.

My Personal Prayer for You

Lord Jesus, You are truly my One and Only Love! Thank You for Your constant faithfulness to love me, even with all of my faults. You taught us what God is like, and You opened the path to salvation through Your death and resurrection. How can we ever show our love to You–for all You have done for us? Teach us how to love You more, and to live for You daily.

Day-votedly Yours,

Rebecca

Last week 1/22 my hair stylist had a birthday and I wanted to give her a copy of your “Daily in His Presence”. I finally found a copy through a small business called “The Book Worm”. I had to pay five times the price it was originally listed! But I was so determined to give Michelle one since I try to encourage her in her Christian faith. She used to be a Catholic, but when she married she joined her husband’s church. My daughter-in-law introduced me to her. So when I go weekly to her salon to get my hair done, I give a small bit of encouragement of what God is doing in my life….especially through your books. Each morning and evening when I read a portion of one of your books, I lift you in prayer to continue to be His instrument and witness. Keep up God’s work.

Every morning I try to get up and give God my first fruits which is praise, worship and reading His Word. I usually do it with a prayer group on the phone; but some morning I might miss and over sleep. I would love to have one of “Your Mornings with Jesus 2013″ books because I desire to draw closer with God every day and have been praying for God to show things that I can teach the youth. He has shown me that many of us teach the youth stories but not the basis things like how to pray, who is God, the Holy Spirit, worship, etc.

Thank you for being willing to give!

I love receiving your newsletters and your daily devotions that are sent by email. I find that my relationship with the Lord has increased greatly just by reading your daily devotions. I would love to receive one of “Your Mornings with Jesus 2013″ books because I know that it would increase my faith and my love for both God and Jesus Christ. He has truly sustained me through many years of trials and tribulations. And I would not change it in any same or form.

Your devotionals are so meaningful, almost prophetic in a sense. They really bing out the meaning of scripture through how it speaks to you through the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. It talks to me deeply because it makes me ponder for awhile what you are saying – like your Christmas posts for instance – I loved the 25 days of Christmas. As a Pastor, your posts speak deeply and simply because you are a woman of God who listens to the Spirit of truth.

    5. Jennifer on January 28th, 2013 11:27 am

I would love to receive the book because it would be something that my husband and I can get up daily and read and grow closer to the Lord…

    6. Connie on January 28th, 2013 12:02 pm

Rebecca, First let me say Thank-you for your newsletters and devotionals I have enjoyed receiving them since meeting you in San Antonio several years ago. You are truly a Woman of G-d your words of encouragement and wisdom are always in season and I know that is because of the Holy Spirit. I would be a real Blessing for me to receive a copy of Mornings with Jesus 2013.

    7. Nancy Turner on January 28th, 2013 12:04 pm

I would love to have the book, not only to read for myself, but I have three groups (private.invite only) of Christian ladies, mostly older, and love to share devotions each morning with them…as they do me. We discuss it and we pray each day using a devotion to give thought to. God bless the work that you do, and may it touch many hearts who need to hear this each day…..Nancy Turner

I would love to spend my mornings with Jesus! I have always gotten so caught up with trying to race thru the day that my Saviour gets forgotten (until I find myself in a pickle and have to call on Him).
I would love to spend my mornings with Him, maybe this devotional would help me get on track with that!

    9. Lee Whitmore 1-28-2013 on January 28th, 2013 1:59 pm

I would like to have this devotional because I suffer from depression and anxiety and I feel that it will offer me the peace and hope that I need to get through each day. As well as, a closer walk with Jesus Christ which would lead to a new beginning for me. Perhaps then I could find the courage that I need to reach out to others who are going through the same kind of suffering that I am going through. Yours in Christ.

      Rebecca~
I wanted to start 2013 fresh or refreshed and really getting down or getting back to my wonderful relationship with Jesus my savior.
Well I have missed 3 Sundays of worship due to illness and my plan did not pan out as I had planned.
I would love the 2013 Mornings With Jesus to get me going again. I just have not been able to find just the right devo book this year except for my Bible of course.
I fully intend on being madly and passionately in love with Jesus come 2014. After all He was my first love and now as I am getting older I need a more intimate relationship with Him.
So many of my friends are dying or very ill. I need Him and HIs support during these difficult times.
      Thanks
I hope you will consider me for Mornings with Jesus.

Oh Rebecca… I came looking for a gift for a dear friend of mine and I so love the copy I have of Daily in Your Image and Daily In His Presence devotionals, only to discover that you have a new wonderful devotional! How I would love to spend every morning of 2013 with Jesus and your gifted words, but even without your book, I WILL BE spending each morning with Jesus, it’d be just so much better with you!!! I have so enjoyed you and reread the book you autographed to me so often and just would love to bless my friend struggling with recovery from heart attack, stroke and diabetes. I just decided you would be the best choice! I’m so glad that I found your new book!

If you will give me permission to repost this on my blog, I would be more than happy to since I don’t do Facebook or Twitter, it’s my way of sharing… even if you don’t I may link to here for others to be encouraged by this new release! When I was back home in MN, I so loved to read GUIDEPOSTS as a magazine. I would be honored to send this if I win to my friend in TN that needs your encouragement and inspiration!!! Thank you so much!

    18. Rebecca Barlow Jordan on February 1st, 2013 3:41 pm

Peggy, thanks for your encouraging words. There are also 9 other great writers of this 2013 Mornings with Jesus devotional, so this wasn’t mine alone like most of my other books. I had the privilege of working with a great team. As far as reposting this on your blog, I really can’t give that permission, since Guideposts gave me permission to put it on my blog. But you’re welcome to write a blurb about the book giveaway with a link to my site, however. I’ll announce the winner in a couple of weeks.

    19. Rebecca Barlow Jordan on February 1st, 2013 3:44 pm

Thanks for all your great comments! I wish all of you could win! Keep watching my blog for a winner that I’ll announce in a couple of weeks. And you still have a week to enter the drawing. So pass the word.

    20. Kristi Lambert on February 1st, 2013 6:33 pm

Well, first of all because I love reading Christian based books and also I spend time each day (and nigth) drawing closer to God. Being in His presence is the most precious time in my life. Last, but not least I hope to write a book myself sometime.

I would like to win the Devotional Book! I often use develotionals in sharing words of encouragement with others over the phone and in writing notes of encouragement as God directs.
I carry God’s peace with me always:(Almost always!) I’ve learned to continually give my troubles to Him – if I don’t, then I can’t hear Him when He tells me what He wants me to do.
Rebecca – Continue to keep on keeping on, He is faithul, He loves us, He cares, He listens, He answers prayer – in His way and in His time – Which is Always best and The Best is Yet to Come! How awesome our God is and how wonderful, marvelous Heaven is going to be.

    25. Cristina Aloe on February 7th, 2013 12:17 pm

Thank you. I am reading the Old Testament right now and am struggling with the contradiction of the violence in Joshua and the fact that God is all loving and all forgiving. I feel your book will help me continue on my journey. I am a single mother and a survivor of domestic abuse. I am also a professional actress/singer struggling to find my way back to the stage. The Catholic Church and Faith and Hope and Love have done more for my healing than any therapist. Thank you.

I have always believed in God, but recently realized that my devotion to him has not been quite what it should be. I think your book would be an excellent addition to my daily faith renewal.

    30. Betty on February 25th, 2013 8:43 am

Your writings have been so helpful and insighful to me. It seems that each posting that I get has a lesson that I need to learn, or is addressing what I am faciing at that particular time in my life. I have been uplifted, encouraged and challenged by your postings to be more of a mirror of God’s love to those around me. I realized that I had been failing in this area, I have been going through some rough times facing decisions that I needed to make, but didn’t want to make. Your postings has helped me do what I know needed to be done and to face the truths that I needed to face. Thank you for allowing God to use you in such a way that you uplift others and encourage them to show God to a fallen world. God bless and thank you again.

    31. Rebecca Barlow Jordan on February 25th, 2013 11:17 am
