God Blesses Believers with Two Companions-Book Giveaway

http://www.rebeccabarlowjordan.com/god-blesses-believers-two-companions-book-giveawayIt’s time for another book giveaway. I enjoy encouraging others, and I hope this new book will encourage you. You’ll enjoy a year’s full of devotions that will strengthen you in your walk with Jesus.

All of us need to set aside time to meet with God–to refresh our spirits, strengthen our relationship, and nourish our souls. All of us need encouragement. In the new Mornings with Jesus 2014 devotional, I joined nine other gifted writers again to share 365 fresh devotional insights from God’s Word that focus on the character and teachings of Jesus.

Read through the blog to discover how you can enter this book drawing/giveaway.

http://www.rebeccabarlowjordan.com/booksBelow you’ll find one of the sample devotions I wrote in the Mornings with Jesus 2014 devotional. Read it and see how God has blessed every believer with two special companions.

You can find out more about the Guideposts devotional here. You can also sign up for their newsletters.

Two Faithful Companions

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6 NKJV

We have always been a “dog” family. Ever since I can remember, even as a child, a fur-legged, tail wagging creature would greet us each morning with affection. Almost without exception through the years, our differing breeds had one thing in common. They loved to “get away.” And for the most part, that love of adventure got them in lots of trouble.

Except for Brandy. We adopted this temperamental cocker spaniel from our daughter who was in college at the time. Brandy became my dog. Wherever I went, Brandy followed me. When I would write at the computer, she slept near my feet. When I cooked, she would sit or lay with her head propped on the kitchen windowsill, following every movement outside. She rarely left my side.

Brandy died several years ago, and I’ve never replaced her. Even in her testy moments, Brandy remained my favorite dog. I still miss her.

Jesus reminded me recently that a couple of constant “companions” follow me day after day. They sleep by my bed. They watch while I eat or work. They travel with me faithfully, no matter where I go or what I do.

The truth is, all of God’s children know these two companions: goodness and mercy. “All the days of my life” means every day, every night, until I draw my last breath. Jesus’ goodness, immeasurable and unfailing, and His mercy, extravagant and undeserving, is better than any four-legged canine’s companionship.

Even our closest human relationships can’t offer the same soul-satisfying joy as Jesus’ own presence—and those faithful godly companions: goodness and mercy.

Faith Step: Thank Jesus for your loyal companions, goodness and mercy. Take time today to remember the experiences when those two have consciously made a difference in your life.

I’d very much love to have a copy of this book. I am walking along His path and it’s dusk and the batteries in my flashlight are weakening. His Word, and the encouragement of others in His Will, recharge my spiritual flashlight and brighten the path so I don’t stray too far. Devotionals like this one help me stay in the light. Thank you.

I would love to win the Devotional Book!! I read a lot and gain so much from reading devotionals – they encourage me – they give me new ideas – new thoughts on praying – sharing – caring – and bless me! Reading every day keeps my mind stayed on the Lord (especially His Word) – God bless you richly as you continue to minister to others. Our God is an awesome God! – and He loves us with an everlasting love – an unending love – what more can we ask for- and the best is yet to come – ALLELUIA!

It is always refreshing to read God’s word in the morning. Each day we are faced with trials and by “being in the word” it helps us to know who we are and whose we are. It is also encouraging to know that God’s word will speak to you and the answer to your day is filled within his scriptures.

When I am down or in a difficult situation, I have learned to remember that God’s mercy is always with me and he is aware of my situation at all times. Therefore, I know that I am not alone.

When I feel alone and in a difficult situation, I remind my self that I do not stand alone and that God’s mercy is with me at all times and is aware of all my situations.

    7. Sally Ruiz on October 28th, 2013 4:35 pm

I feel that this book will make me more aware that God is with me at all times good and bad.

Rebecca, since we became friends several years ago at the Ellis County Women’s Conference, I’ve been reading your blog. Of course, you also know that you used one of my stories in DAY-VOTIONS for GRANDMOTHERS :) I love everything you write so I would be blessed to win another of your books.

      BLESSINGS!

I’ve lost a faithful companion named Zach He was a grey tabby cat. Our son found him in a barn he worked in. For 13 years he was a best friend and great footwarmer. We have yet to get another pet after 6 years I never thought of it the way you described the 2 faithful companions. What a great thing to realize. THANK YOU. .

My daily devotions are my alone time I spend with GOD each morning. and as the sunrise brings the day. I can hear GOD whisperting I painted this sunrise and I feel so close to HIM as I say my morning prayer. Thank you Rebecca for all of my e-mail devotions, they make my day.
      Love and blessings,
      Emily

    12. Marie on October 28th, 2013 8:56 pm

I would really like the morning devotional, so I can spend time with my daughters in the morning talking about Jesus before we start our day. My brother passed away this summer in an accidental drowning one the things his daughters talked about remembering their time for devotions in the morning. I would feel blessed to do the same with my daughters.

    13. Mary T on October 28th, 2013 9:21 pm

Rebecca, I found today’s post truly inspirational! To see God’s goodness and mercy as companions rather than gifts or blessings is extremely comforting! Or knowing they are only a few of His gifts of companionship…I always feel that Jesus is with me in “every breath I take, every move I make”, walking with me or carrying me…I praise Him always! With just this one devotion as an example of the new “Mornings with Jesus 2014″ devotional, I am sure I would be inspired and encouraged daily. Thanks for the chance to receive it!

    14. Linda on November 4th, 2013 12:51 pm

Thanks for your encouragement at a time when I really need it……my prayer and devotional life seems to have stalled and I think your devotional would be the ‘kick start’ I need.
May God bless all you do xoxox

I would love to win this book for my best friend, Stacy. She’s a beautiful woman of God who never complains, is always smiling & always encouraging others. She has 3 children; one of whom she adopted from a family member. This child needs extra attention & care. She is also caretaker of her daddy who is manic depressive. She is constantly seeking help for him & praying for healing. She also has to help care for her mom. Her husband is on disability & they struggle daily to make ends meet. Through all this she still has only a grateful heart & loving helpful attitude for others.

    16. Starr Wisniewski on November 13th, 2013 6:04 am

I would love to win this book Rebecca to start my New Year out with the words God has given you and apply to my ministry of serving women. I have found this year that there are so many women that are hurting, and I just want God to use me any way he can to minister to them.

Rebecca, all of your books touch my heart in a way that is God breathed. Since you came out last year and having the honor of meeting you, I have re-read your devotionals. They encourage my daily walk and give me what I always need, plus whomever God places in my path for that day – that scripture you have written.

May God continue to bless you for your faithfulness to Him!
