As my husband and I were praying for our kids and grandkids today, God impressed me to put aside another blog I was working on and to revisit one I had already posted a while back. In this season of our lives, we feel like some of the most important work we can do is to pray for our children and grandchildren.
More Challenges, More Temptations
With school starting again soon, our young family members will face more pressures than ever. New temptations will test them and new studies will challenge them. In many cases, fears may assault them, and their faith will need strengthening for tough times. Whether they don uniforms or other clothes, they will all need to wear God’s protective armor (Ephesians 6:11-18).
Growth in Character and Abilities
But they will also have opportunities to grow both in their character, and in their abilities. God can increase their joys and confidence in themselves and in Him. Maybe that’s why we pray with more intensity for our children and grandchildren. And that’s why their names are on our lips both in silent and spoken prayers not just once in a while, but daily. God knows their names!
Praying for your kids and grandkids is not an option. They depend on you, especially as they go back to school. In a nutshell, below are five back to school prayers you can pray for your loved ones–now, or anytime of year. Read more

He conversed with Adam in the first garden. He told Noah to build an ark. He spoke to Moses in a burning bush. He promised Abraham a son. Paul heard His voice on the way to Damascus. But does God still speak to us today? If so, how? When? Where?
Often when people ask this question, they are talking about an audible voice. And God can do that. He can do anything He wants. He’s God. Why then, can’t I hear God speak to me audibly, someone might ask?
I can’t answer questions that the Bible does not make clear. And the way God works is one of those questions. I do think “hearing God speak” may mean different things to different people. To some, it may suggest, “I need answers for my life, or this particular crisis.” Another may say, “I’ve asked God for _________, but He never answers me.
Because God treats each of us as unique children, He doesn’t communicate the same way to all of us. However, here are eight ways God often speaks to us today. Read more

Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! Psalm 27:14 NKJV
Wait on God
The promise for today has a condition: waiting. But finding strength for today–and tomorrow– is God’s promise. Isaiah 40:31 carries the same thought and promise.
Waiting is not easy. My husband and I have often joked that we’ve spent the majority of our lives in God’s waiting room. The times I failed to wait proved disastrous. But always, without exception, He offers strength when we learn to wait on God. Read more
