I am.

Our tree is a little “different” this year.

But it’s simple. And it reminds me to keep a child-like spirit.

It also reminds me of my “collecting” weakness from the past.  :-P

A child-like Christmas…

is a simple Christmas,

With a simple story…

and a simple message.

So we can recognize the God-Child

who came to restore the child in us.

The God-child, Jesus, brought hope, forgiveness, joy, grace, love, and peace…

Simple things a childish heart craves…and needs.

Rest for the weary, and strength to soar…

Faith to believe and receive…

Could a child ask for more?

I’m dreaming of a child-like Christmas.

How about you?

I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, he is Christ the Lord This will be a sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger (Luke 2:10-11, NIV).

My Personal Prayer for You

Lord, we ask You this year for the faith of a child so we can see Christmas–and life–the way You intended. Thank You for Jesus, Your own Son, the One who came to earth as the God-child, the One who is a Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father–the One our hearts so desperately need. Thank You for Christ-mas!

Day-votedly Yours,

Rebecca

Just before I opened this email I was sitting in my living room looking around at the decorations and remembering how I felt during this season so many years ago. Wondering why the feelings are so different now. Is it all the responsibility I have now with family gatherings and Christmas gifts? Or, is it because so many family members have already gone to be with Jesus and now I’m getting to be one of the ‘older’ ones? I really don’t know. But I would love more than anything to have those warm, child-like feelings about Christmas back. Thank you Becky, for helping me remember the way it used to be… the way it SHOULD be. Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Thanks, Karen, for your thoughtful and affirming words. Things and seasons change in our lives, don’t they? But I’m so glad there are some things that never change–like the simple message of Christmas. May our Faithful God grant you a child-like Christmas this year–and every year!
