Today is the first in a series of daily Christmas blogs I did last Christmas called 25 Prayers of Christmas, or 25 Christmas Prayers, celebrating the names of our precious Lord. I hope they will enrich your Christmas season again this year and draw you closer to the One who is the true reason for Christmas. Be blessed as you celebrate the 25 days of Christmas with these Christmas Prayers.
Day 1 – Wonderful Counselor
Lord, at Christmas time we acknowledge you as our Wonderful Counselor. You are truly a counselor full of wonder. And Your ways are both mysterious and wonder-filled. The counsel You give is marvelous and wise–so unlike our own thoughts and plans.
Who can explain Your wonderful plan to send us Your very best–Your own Son? And how grateful we are that You even design wonderful, unique plans for each of us as Your children.
Prepare our hearts at this special time of the year when we celebrate Your birthday. Make us wise stewards as we share our gifts freely with each other, not with expensive treasures, but with extravagant love.
Open our eyes and our ears to see and hear those around us. So many need Your wise counsel. Hurting lives, confused hearts, and discouraged souls long for your touch. So many need to discover the wonder of knowing you. Come and fill our spirits with the miraculous wonder of Christmas, so You can love through us. Like children, we long for Your touch. And we desperately want hear to Your sweet counsel.
Thank you for being our Wonderful Counselor. Guide us in the paths we should go. Today we want to listen closer and follow nearer to You and Your wise words. On the first day of Christmas, we celebrate You and Your precious name.
For to us a son is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor….Isaiah 9:6 NIV
